🧩 文法點:can 的三條鐵律(記牢絕不出錯)

can 是「助動詞」(modal),用法跟一般動詞不一樣:

① can 後面一定接「原形動詞」——不加 to、不加 -s、不加 ing:

• ✅ I can swim.　❌ I can to swim.　❌ I can swimming.
• ✅ She can cook.　❌ She cans cook.　❌ She can cooks.

② can 對所有主詞都一樣——I / you / he / she / we / they 全部用 can,不像一般動詞第三人稱要加 s。

• I can, you can, he can, she can, we can... 一路 can 到底。

③ 否定 = can't(= cannot),問句把 can 搬到前面:

• 否定:I can't drive.（= I cannot drive.)
• 問句:Can you drive? → Yes, I can. / No, I can't.
• 注意:回答用 can / can't 就好,不用 do/does(那是一般動詞的問法)。

🗣️ 發音提醒

• can vs can't 最難分,但很重要:
  • 肯定 can 在句中常唸「弱」——短短的 /kən/(像「肯」的輕音),重音在後面的動詞:I can SWIM。
  • 否定 can't 唸「強」/kænt/(美式),母音清楚、尾巴有個 t 收住:I CAN'T swim。
  • 聽的訣竅:聽到重音在 can 上、又有 t 收尾 = can't;can 一滑而過 = can。 這需要多聽,先知道有這回事。
• speak /spik/:長音 /i/,像「斯比克」;開頭 s-p 兩子音連著唸,中間不要塞母音(不是「斯-必克」)。
