講「過去的過去」——在某個過去的時間點之前,已經發生的事。用 had + 過去分詞。它讓你說故事時能把「哪件先、哪件後」講清楚。

💬 先聽一段對話

Amy: How was the movie?（電影怎樣?) Ken: I missed it! When I got to the theater, it had already started.（我錯過了!我到電影院時,它已經開演了。) Amy: Oh no. Had you booked a ticket?（喔不。你訂票了嗎?) Ken: Yeah, I had. But the traffic was terrible.（訂了。但塞車塞得很慘。)

🔑 關鍵句型

• 主詞 + had + 過去分詞 = 在過去某時之前已經…。
  • When I arrived, the train had already left.
• 常配 already / just / before / after / by the time / when。
• 問句 Had you…?　→ Yes, I had. / No, I hadn't.

🧩 文法點:兩個過去,誰先誰後

① 組成:had + 過去分詞(所有主詞都用 had)

• I / you / he / she / we / they → had + 過去分詞。
• She had finished / They had gone.

② 用途:兩件過去的事,「先發生的那件」用過去完成:

When I got home（後發生,過去式),my family had already eaten（先發生,過去完成)。 （= 我到家時,家人早就吃過了。)

畫成時間線:had eaten(更早)→ got home(較晚)→ 現在。

③ 跟過去式對照——順序不同,意思不同:

• When I arrived, the movie started.（我到,然後才開演——同時/接著)
• When I arrived, the movie had started.（我到之前它就開演了——我遲到了)

④ 常見搭配:

• by the time + 過去式, ... had + 過去分詞:By the time we arrived, they had left.
• already / just:放 had 和分詞中間——had already finished / had just left。

🗣️ 發音提醒

• had 常弱讀 /həd/;縮寫 I'd /aɪd/ = I had(也可能是 I would——靠後面動詞形分:I'd gone = had;I'd go = would)。
• hadn't /ˈhædənt/:中間 d、尾 t 都輕。
• realize /ˈriəˌlaɪz/:美式拼 realize、英式 realise;三音節「REE-a-lize」。

練習 1:過去式還是過去完成?

• When we arrived, the party ＿ (already/finish). → had already finished
