為什麼 "heavy rain" 對、"strong rain" 怪?為什麼是 "make a decision" 不是 "do a decision"?答案是 collocation（搭配詞）——某些字習慣跟某些字一起出現。母語者的「道地」,一大半來自搭配對。這一課教你整組記、而不是逐字翻,讓你的英語立刻不再「中式」。

💬 先聽一段對話

Mia: How was the negotiation?（談判怎麼樣?) Ken: We made a lot of progress and finally reached an agreement.（我們有很大進展,最後達成了協議。) Mia: That's a huge relief.（那真是大大鬆一口氣。) Ken: It is. I had strong doubts at first, but they made a real effort.（是啊。我一開始很懷疑,但他們真的很努力。)

🔑 搭配的幾種型態

• 形容詞 + 名詞:heavy rain、strong coffee、deep sleep、a huge relief。
• 動詞 + 名詞:make a decision、do research、reach an agreement、take a risk。
• 副詞 + 形容詞:highly likely、deeply concerned、fully aware。
• 動詞 + 副詞:strongly recommend、firmly believe。

🧩 文法點:整組記,別逐字翻

① make vs do（中文都是「做」,英文分工）:

• make:make a decision / a mistake / progress / an effort / a difference / an appointment。
• do:do research / homework / business / the dishes / a favour / your best。
• 沒有萬用規則 → 當一組記（"make a decision" 一起背）。

② strong / heavy / deep 等「強度形容詞」各有對象:

• strong:strong coffee、strong argument、strong accent、strong doubts。
• heavy:heavy rain、heavy traffic、heavy smoker、a heavy schedule。
• deep:deep sleep、deep breath、deep concern、in deep trouble。
• ⚠ 不能互換:❌ strong rain / heavy coffee → ✅ heavy rain / strong coffee。

③ 副詞強化搭配（讓「非常」更精準）:

• highly:highly likely / recommended / successful / unlikely。
• deeply:deeply concerned / grateful / moved / rooted。
• fully:fully aware / booked / understand / support。
• ⚠ ❌ very recommended → ✅ highly recommended。

④ 為什麼搭配是 C1 的關鍵:

• 文法對、單字對,但搭配錯 → 母語者一聽就覺得「怪怪的、外國人講的」。
• 學搭配 = 學「這個字都跟誰出現」→ 查好的**搭配詞典（collocations dictionary）**或看真實語料。

⑤ 中文母語者常犯:

• 逐字翻:「開燈」≠ open the light → turn on the light;「很強的雨」→ heavy rain。
• do/make 混用:❌ do a decision → ✅ make a decision。
• very + 某些字不自然:❌ very recommend → ✅ strongly/highly recommend。

🗣️ 發音提醒

• 搭配當一個節奏單位唸:"make-a-de-ci-sion"、"heavy-traf-fic"——不要逐字頓。
• 副詞+形容詞的重音多在形容詞:highly LIKE-ly、deeply CON-cerned。
• progress 名詞重音在前(PRO-gress)、動詞在後(pro-GRESS)——這課用名詞。
